Magazines: Elle (February 2011)

Two pages from the February issue of Elle:

Interview with Rashida and Amy Poehler

Elle imagining a Tina Chow-inspired makeover

Rashida Jones & Amy Poehler
When ELLE sat down with Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones to talk about their real life friendship vs. their TV friendship on Parks and Recreation, the duo spit out one comedic gem after the other. Below, the bits that didn’t make it into the book, but will still make you laugh.

On their on-screen friendship:
AP: It’s satisfying to have a female relationship on TV that isn’t like, when one leaves, the other one is rolling their eyes, like “What an idiot.” It was important to Rashida and I to create a story of why these two would actually become friends, otherwise Leslie just seems like a cartoon, and Ann just seems like she doesn’t care about anything. We worked hard to figure out what it would be about the two of them in this small town where they would find each other. And I just think Leslie has a crush on Ann. A friendship crush.
RJ: The feeling’s absolutely mutual. And it’s actually good representation of our life because I actually can’t get enough of Amy in real life.

What other friends they compare their friendship to:
AP: We need to think of a hip reference.
RJ: We’re like two of the three Jonas brothers!
AP: Yes, we’re two of the three Jonas Brothers.
RJ: Even they’re are old now! That was last year.
AP: Who’s Willow Smith’s daughter? That’s who I want to reference.

On fashion:
AP: I love to see when they’re like, you know what? This year it’s just all about long legs and fresh faces. It’s amazing. As opposed to last year, where it was like, thick waist…
RJ: And a big ass!
