Doin' The Scarn in last night's episode of The Office. (Wasn't it called Threat Level: Midnight in that script-reading episode all those years ago?? I think it's funnier with the colon in the title. So Michael.)

Bachelorette: Ever banged an entire bachelorette party baby?
Karen: Why are you singling my line out like a million years later?

You jump to the right and you shake a hand
And you jump to the left and you shake that hand
You meet new friends, you tie that yarn
And that’s how you do the Scarn!

UPDATE: Thanks to Karen for this link to a TIME article featuring Rashida :)
Occupation: Actor
Ancestry: Black, Russian Jewish, Irish, Portuguese and Cherokee

Quote: "I'm lucky because I have so many clashing cultural, racial things going on: black, Jewish, Irish, Portuguese, Cherokee. I can float and be part of any community I want. The thing is, I do identify with being black, and if people don't identify me that way that's their issue. I'm happy to challenge people's understanding of what it looks like to be biracial, because guess what? In the next 50 years, people will start looking more and more like me."

-- Mixed-Race Celebrities on Race, in their Own Words, TIME

=============================================
An interesting article about race and progress in Hollywood from The New Yorker's Richard Brody
[excerpt] That’s one reason why yesterday’s lament by Manohla Dargis and A. O. Scott, in the Times, about the dearth of leading black actors in Hollywood is, though clearly well-intentioned, a little beside the point. Things take a while to get through the pipeline of production, and what looks like a trend turns out to be a coincidence. The longue durĂ©e encouraged by the historian Fernand Braudel is especially useful when dealing with the modern Hollywood machine.

But look at “The Social Network,” and, in particular, at Rashida Jones. She plays a supporting role as a lawyer—she gives the movie its memorable envoi—and the fact that she is a mixed-race woman is of no significance to the story, which is itself significant. The senior lawyers representing Mark Zuckerberg and his antagonists are white, only one is a woman, and none is young. But David Fincher seems to suggest that this will change in a few years. Only a few years ago, Hollywood wouldn’t have known what to do with Rashida Jones; now she played (and quite well) Paul Rudd’s love interest in “I Love You, Man,” and she’s got more on the way.

It’s a small but significant sign. [/]

Rashida has been voted #55 in AskMen's Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2011. It's a pretty good result as she is ranked higher than Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Minka Kelly, among others. This is the 10th edition of the list and over 5 million votes were cast worldwide. Check out her entry with pics and video here. Thanks to Ara for the tip :)

Rashida Jones for Lois Lane?!?
Now that Henry Cavill has been cast in the Superman reboot everyone is wondering who will play Lois Lane - is Rashida a contender? There's been a groundswell of support on the interwebs, e.g. Entertainment Weekly (see below), The Week, Comic Book Movie, Racialicious, Den of Geek, Blastr, lots of tumblrs etc. Most of it is fan spec based on her resemblance to Margot Kidder but Comic Book Movie says she is "auditioning" for the role. Don't know how "official" or accurate that is though...
Entertainment Weekly: Superman Readers' Choice
I'm putting my hat in the ring for Rashida Jones. She's beautiful in a way that's both intelligent and sexy, and could effortlessly meld the committed and hard-driving moral code of Lois Lane with a modern this-army-brat-can-kick-your-ass sensibility. I also think she could play up Lois' more purposeful, intense side. Part of what made the Kidder/Reeve charm was that Lois was the serious one, and Superman/Clark was more lighthearted and had a bigger sense of humor. —spmsmith

Magazines: Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue (March 2011)

The cover of Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue was revealed yesterday and she's lounging in a leopard print gown and feeding a baby lion. Love it!

Behind the scenes slideshow and video

... “We wanted to evoke the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance,” says fashion and style director Jessica Diehl. “We had the gentlemen looking dashing in black tie, whilst the ladies were radiant in spring's gowns—from Gucci to Yves Saint Laurent—and glittering with diamonds from Chanel and other arbiters of glamour.”

The lion cub was a surprise to our cover subjects, but The Social Network's Rashida Jones—who caught up with her co-stars Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield (the next Spider-Man)—had no problem with it even when it started gnawing at her Tom Ford dress. ...
