I know big show-stopping gowns aren't her thing and I *do* like her signature laid-back style but this is a pretty uninspired choice. The Met Ball = The Fashion Oscars. Gorgeous color though.

A gaggle of Hollywood celebs sipped champagne and enjoyed a rooftop view of the White House at the New Yorker cocktail party at the W Hotel POV roof terrace and lounge on Friday night. Spotted chatting in the corner: Actors Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Sean Penn.

Comedian Seth Meyers, who also showed up at Chris Dodd’s MPAA reception, brought his family to the party, which was hosted by New Yorker editor David Remnick.

Also in attendance were actor Jon Hamm, actress Rashida Jones, directors Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, actress Kerry Washington, Olympian Shaun White, actress Rosario Dawson, actress Mira Sorvino, musician David Byrne, director Tom Hooper and designer Tara Subkoff, and Craigslist founder Craig Newmark.

Beltway types in the crowd included Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, Director of Communications Dan Pfeiffer, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Director of Speechwriting Jon Favreau, Director of Domestic Policy Melody Barnes, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and Rep. Anthony Weiner. 4/21: Speaking at the Obama Victory Fund 2012 Kick-Off With The President And Jamie Foxx, a re-election fundraising rally at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.

 

A couple reports about the rally

 Second fundraiser speech was much the same as the one last night. Some highlights and sightings: The audience shouted "Four more years! Four more years!" and President Obama joked, "Actually technically it’s more like five and a half."
Someone fainted during POTUS's remarks. "Give them some room," POTUS said, calling for the medics and saying the person probably just needed air or some juice.
POTUS was going on about the things he's gotten done when someone in the audience shouted, "We need your leadership." "I'm right here but I'm going to need yours as well," he replied.
He talked about how some Democrats are frustrated with him. He mimicked what some of them say, "I don't like that compromise with the Republicans. ... Health care took so long."
He joked about his age, which he has done regularly this entire trip, saying those Democrats are like, he's older and not so fresh. Earlier in the speech when he was remarking on his gray hair, someone shouted that gray was OK. "I’m gonna let Michelle know you said it’s OK," POTUS said. "Folks here in Hollywood can go gray for a part."
When he stopped speaking, "Your Love Is Lifting me Higher" started playing on the sound system and POTUS shook hands.
Dem official says before pool arrived Jamie Foxx emceed, Rashida Jones spoke, Jason Moraz performed and a choir from a public schoool in South LA sang.
Jamie Foxx and Rashida Jones were among a small group of VIPs that were standing in an area on the floor next to the stage. A couple White House staffers were mingling with them, including Jay Carney and Jon Favreau.

At the large rally for younger donors, a group dubbed Gen44, singers Jamie Foxx and Jason Mraz and actress Rashida Jones warmed up the 2,000 plus audience in Sony’s Studio 30.
The soundstage was used to film parts of "Spiderman 4," "Cast Away," "Men in Black 2," "Iron Man 2," Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes," "The Ring," "The Dirty Dozen," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and many of Esther Williams' films, Sony VP Jim Kennedy told reporters.
Obama entered to his signature theme from the band U2, “City of Blinding Light” and chants of “Four more years!” (Though Obama corrected them to say it was more like five and a half.)
He launched into what are now becoming very familiar themes in his stump speech: the progress made coming back from recession and the challenges ahead, such as comprehensive immigration reform, revamping energy policy, reducing the deficit and implementing ‘shared sacrifice.’

And according to Women's Wear Daily, Rashida will attend the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday night as a guest of Condé Nast and Glamour magazine.

The Atlantic and National Journal, in a combined tabling effort, will host Taylor Kitsch of “Friday Night Lights”, Maria Bello and Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries.”

CBS will find a chair for Kerry Washington, Daniel Dae Kim, Morgan Fairchild and Hill Harper of “CSI.”

At ABC’s tables, Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger will host White House chief of staff William Daley; National Security adviser Tom Donilon; Cathy Russell, Jill Biden’s chief of staff; White House social secretary Jeremy Bernard; Sen. Marco Rubio; Attorney General Eric Holder; Adm. Mike Mullen; Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano; Salem Al-Sabah, ambassador from Kuwait; Gary Locke, U.S. ambassador to China, and Amy Rule, Rahm Emanuel’s wife. To lighten up the ABC crowd, Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks will join ESPN anchor Erin Andrews, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet of “Modern Family” and Jane Lynch of “Glee” at the network’s tables.

After the festivities, celebs will head to after parties held by Vanity Fair and Bloomberg at the French ambassador’s residence or Capitol File’s event at the Ronald Reagan Building. This year, MSNBC’s party will be harder than ever to get into at the Embassy of Italy.
