Misc: The Word XXII

MOVIES: Celeste and Jesse Forever

After a few setbacks Celeste and Jesse Forever, the movie Rashida has co-written and will star in, is finally coming together. Andy Samberg (love him!) will play Jesse and Lee Toland Krieger (The Vicious Kind) will direct. The LA Times doesn't specify but pretty sure Team Todd is producing.
-- Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg will get married and divorced (in the movies), Los Angeles Times

Celeste and Jesse Forever is a romantic dramedy about a divorcing couple trying to maintain their friendship while pursuing other people. An early draft of the script was voted =16th/20th overall in the 2009 Black List of Hollywood's "most liked" screenplays.

TV: Parks and Recreation
In other news, Parks and Recreation has been renewed for a 4th season. Awesomesauce!

INTERVIEWS
A couple more promoting Monogamy and Parks & Rec
Rashida Jones is the perfect catch. She's beautiful, talented, smart (she went to Harvard, people!) and her parents are music maestro Quincy Jones and model turned actress Peggy Lipton.
But there's one hitch, fellas—Rashida may not be the marrying kind.

With Natalie Portman off the market, it feels like the Web needs another brainy Harvard beauty with whom to fall in love. To that end, Internet, may we humbly suggest Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue cover girl Rashida Jones? The actress first made us laugh as Karen, Pam’s adversary for Jim’s affection on The Office, and added fresh tension by being a rival you actually rooted for. Since then, the understated, wry, and approachably cool Jones has been making her own bid for the public’s affection with plum roles in Parks and Recreation, I Love You, Man, and The Social Network, where she had the film’s memorable last words. Now, she’s starring opposite Chris Messina in Monogamy, directed by Dana Adam Shapiro. The film follows a seemingly happily engaged couple whose relationship is tested when Messina starts obsessively photo-stalking a blonde exhibitionist. Little Gold Men sat down with Jones to discuss Jedi mind-tricks, why Parks and Recreation is like a hot girl with glasses, and the general awesomeness of working with muppets.

Misc: The Word XIII

Not much to post lately! According to Knope Knows, filming of Parks and Recreation Season 2 has started and besides that she's been laying low.

I Love You, Man came out on DVD and Blu-Ray this past week. Somebody has posted the gag reel on YouTube...

INTERVIEW
She did an interview with IGN to promote the release:
Jones on Being in Love
IGN: Judging by the gag reel on this DVD, you guys look like you had a good time on the set.

Jones: Yeah, it kind of set the bar pretty high for a standard of fun while working. Which, I guess, is a good thing. Maybe it's not a good thing in the long run, but at the time it's literally the most fun I've ever had on a shoot ever. There were days when I wasn't working when I would go to set to hang out.
...
IGN: It does seem you're doing a lot of straight-women roles these days.

Jones: Yeah. Parks and Recreation is my third consecutive job like that. The first being The Office and then I Love You, Man. But the nice thing is that I do truly believe there's got to be a certain equilibrium in comedy. And if you're watching a movie and you're responding to the outlandish character, you're really seeing the movie through the eyes of the straight person. So hopefully, if I'm doing my job correctly, everybody's laughing. And maybe people aren't necessarily thinking I'm the funniest one, which is totally fine. But I do think there's a certain essential need to have that person. ... And listen, it's nice for me because it's very close to who I am. I have a lot of funny friends and I get to participate in the comedy with them, but I'm not over-the-top or whatever. One day it might be nice to do something where I'm just balls to the wall, just crazy.

8/14: Celebrity hairstylist’s newest salon already star-studded
A brief mention as a client of "celebrity hairstylist" Ted Gibson. I guess he did her new look?

By Jeff Dufour and Kiki Ryan (Washington Examiner)
He only opened his newest salon [in Chevy Chase] a few months ago, but already Ted Gibson is living up to the “celebrity” part of his “celebrity hairstylist” tag.
...
Speaking of the White House, another celeb who has some familiarity with 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is actress Rashida Jones. She, too, has trusted her hair to Gibson’s shears, no doubt when she’s the plus-one to chief speechwriter Jon Favreau, whose arm she’s frequently been spotted clutching.

A nice write-up by Ned Hepburn, who starts his article with "Rashida Jones is so damn attractive that I’ve recently developed a script called “Me and Rashida Jones Eating Instant Oatmeal On My Bed While I Write About How Hot She Is”. It stars me as myself, and her as herself, and the bowl of oatmeal has the voice of Sean Connery..."

Appearances: SXSW 2009

Rashida attended the South by Southwest Film Festival's opening weekend to promote I Love You, Man. The film screened Friday night and the panel took place Saturday afternoon.

*watermarked for now but more should come out soon

...The film played to a packed house at the Paramount Theater in the Texas capital, and the festival crowd — admittedly jacked up on hype and margaritas — of course loved every minute.

At the post-screening Q&A, co-star Rashida Jones was the first one to comment on co-star Jason Segel's frontal nudity in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," a hit at last year's SXSW. There are no such displays in I Love You, Man," and a good thing, too, Jones said. "You didn't see enough (last time)?" she said. "Wasn't that enough for you?"
