MOVIES: Celeste and Jesse Forever

After a few setbacks Celeste and Jesse Forever, the movie Rashida has co-written and will star in, is finally coming together. Andy Samberg (love him!) will play Jesse and Lee Toland Krieger (The Vicious Kind) will direct. The LA Times doesn't specify but pretty sure Team Todd is producing.

Celeste and Jesse Forever is a romantic dramedy about a divorcing couple trying to maintain their friendship while pursuing other people. An early draft of the script was voted =16th/20th overall in the 2009 Black List of Hollywood's "most liked" screenplays.

In other news, Parks and Recreation has been renewed for a 4th season. Awesomesauce!

Rashida Jones is the perfect catch. She's beautiful, talented, smart (she went to Harvard, people!) and her parents are music maestro Quincy Jones and model turned actress Peggy Lipton.
But there's one hitch, fellas—Rashida may not be the marrying kind.

With Natalie Portman off the market, it feels like the Web needs another brainy Harvard beauty with whom to fall in love. To that end, Internet, may we humbly suggest Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue cover girl Rashida Jones? The actress first made us laugh as Karen, Pam’s adversary for Jim’s affection on The Office, and added fresh tension by being a rival you actually rooted for. Since then, the understated, wry, and approachably cool Jones has been making her own bid for the public’s affection with plum roles in Parks and Recreation, I Love You, Man, and The Social Network, where she had the film’s memorable last words. Now, she’s starring opposite Chris Messina in Monogamy, directed by Dana Adam Shapiro. The film follows a seemingly happily engaged couple whose relationship is tested when Messina starts obsessively photo-stalking a blonde exhibitionist. Little Gold Men sat down with Jones to discuss Jedi mind-tricks, why Parks and Recreation is like a hot girl with glasses, and the general awesomeness of working with muppets.

News: A Director for Celeste & Jesse Forever

Seth Gordon to direct Rashida Jones in comedy 'Forever'

Seth Gordon is in negotiations to develop and direct "Celeste and Jesse Forever," a divorce comedy set up at Overture.

Rashida Jones is attached to star and co-wrote the script with Will McCormack, which tracks a couple in the midst of a divorce attempting to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships.

Jennifer and Suzanne Todd are producing.

The project was first set up at Fox Atomic, but moved to Overture when that shingle was shuttered.

Gordon made a splash with his documentary "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," then jumped into the studio world with New Line's "Four Christmases." The director, repped by WME and Brillstein Partners, is also developing the long-gestating comedy "Horrible Bosses" for New Line.

Overture Acquires "Forever"
by Peter Knegt
Overture Films has announced today that it has acquired “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” a romantic comedy co-written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Jones will also star in the film to be produced by Suzanne and Jennifer Todd of Team Todd. The story “focuses on a young couple in the midst of a divorce who attempt to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships.”

“Rashida is among the brightest and funniest young actresses today and we are delighted to be working with her,” Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett said in a statement. “The script she and Will have put together is witty and touching and with Team Todd in the mix, the project has great promise.”
Team Todd is behind the “Austin Powers” franchise and has also produced Julie Taymor’s “Across the Universe” and Christopher Nolan’s “Memento.” The company is currently in post-production on Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.”

Fox Atomic nabs 'Celeste and Jesse'
Rashida Jones to star in her own comedy spec

By TATIANA SIEGEL

Fox Atomic has snapped up Rashida Jones and Will McCormack's spec, "Celeste and Jesse Forever," and has attached the "I Love You, Man" actress to star.

Suzanne and Jennifer Todd ("Across the Universe") are producing the comedy via their Team Todd shingle.

Story revolves around a young divorcing couple who try to maintain their longstanding friendship while pursuing other relationships.

Jones, who is best known for her stint on "The Office" before segueing to bigscreen fare like "I Love You, Man," began writing the script with McCormack in August. Project marks the first script sale for Jones and her fellow thesp McCormack, whose credits include ABC's "Brothers and Sisters" and FX's "Dirt." Team Todd has a number of films in various stages of development and production, including Tim Burton's "Alice" at Disney.

Jones will next be seen on NBC's "Parks and Recreation," which premieres April 9.
